For generations the Lichtmans of Odessa and later Berlin were musicians. Boris Lichtman took after his father and, although classically trained, he continued to perform with different groups and ensembles under different names, sometimes the amount of musicians onstage would be in their 20s. The Odessa Quartet was officially born on February the 28th, 2010 as the group performed on the legendary stage of Berlin Philharmonic Hall in front of a full house. The second part of the show the audience would get up on their feet and stay there until the very end of the show. And then the encore numbers would keep them standing for another 20 minutes!

The only Double Bass playing leader of the group. In the world!!!

Born in Odessa, Boris came to Germany as a very young man. His father was a professional musician and at the young age Boris started playing violin. However, his favourite became a double bass on which Boris has become a bit of a legend in Berlin and Germany. Honestly, there are very few bass players in the world with so much knowledge on how to play on double bass properly. Not being of a huge physical statue Boris manages to play the gigantic violin like it was just a violin. The slap technique is developed to perfection which help Odessa save on a drummer, as Boris sometimes does the job for both.

One thing which is truly amazing about this lady is her smile. It could light up the room. Coming from a strictly academically serious environment Svetlana found herself in Odessa. She is a true human or shall we say show woman. With her implacable technique and the energy she radiates from stage it is just impossible not to love her! With clever vocals and total dedication to the cause of music Svetlana is a candy for an eye! What a performer!

Also born in Russia, Andrej is a classical baritone many international awards and other professional merits. He worked thru entire professional repertoire available for baritones within opera and musical theatre. Used to be directed on stage he is so much at ease with the audience. And audience loves it when the most important member of the group – the singer is enjoying himself. It is a love story too.

The winner of many international competitions, a master soloist Alexander is a big fond of folk music. Being able to play properly this organ oh his shoulders - the button accordion, Alexander brings into the musical spectre of Odessa the power of multi polyphonic instrument, which sometimes doubles as a rhythm section and as a small chamber orchestra. Regular performer in Europe Alexander often revisits the venues he performed at as soloist with Odessa, and according to him it is four times as fun!!!
