There are many good tunes available in the toolbox of Odessa: Russian folk songs, Russian Romances, the Gypsy songs and melodies, Klezmer and other hard to define masterpieces. Most of the music comes in a form of a melody line and a chord progression, so the members of Odessa do the arrangements and try to look at these well-known songs from a bit different prospective and always with a good doze of humour. Boris Lichtman himself a published composer and an arranger also has his father’s back catalog of music available to him to tap into!
